Kudos for SnowBowl Volunteers
to be there just to experience it and see how it runs, and this years
Championships were no exception and I am sure, will stand out in everyone's
memories for a long time to come. It certainly was one for the ages.
It always amazes me, with our league, just how many people are willing to
pitch in and lend a hand an do whatever has to be done to make it work. The
coordinating efforts by Yeera and Cloverdale were exceptional, the support
from the associations was outstanding, and the considerations from the
players, parents and coaches was fantastic. Everyone realized the cards that
we had been dealt to play with for this day and EVERYONE accepted that fact
and played on.
I guess we are going to have to create job descriptions for "Field Line
Shovelers" and "Tent Canopy Cleaners" - this was incredible to see all day
long the constant support and help that was offered.
Hats off (now that it is not frozen to my head anymore) to Yeera and the
entire Cloverdale Association, to Frank, Murray and Ken Henry for
announcing, DJing and covering our event, to Lui and Lions Players for
coming out, to Gord J., Helen, Gord B and Rob M. for your constant support
throughout the day and Brian for putting together our program.
I understand that we have some Chilli and Birthday cake left over- so maybe
Yeera would like to host
a wrap up party ? Yeera, please pass on our THANKS to your people on behalf
of the VMFL it was simply outstanding what they had done and were willing to
do to make this a showcase event for our league. And Thank You to our
Sponsors who recognized the value that our league represents for youth
football and were willing to partner with us for our Championships.
The VMFL 2006 Championships will certainly be remembered for a long tiome to
come because of the weather, which will unfortunately overshadow the
tremendous amount of work and effort of all of those involved.
- On to the Dome !
p.s. Special Thanks to Richmond and Sandee for hosting the Cheerleading
Championships on Saturday as well, another (noisey but warm) great finale to
the year.
Terry Kehoe
VMFL President
tirelessly throughout the day in extrordinary conditions to provide an
exciting VMFL Championships that the kids will remember for a lifetime. It
is amazing to see eveyone come together and do whatever is necessary to
ensure the boys and girls received the best possible experience given the
conditions.
Thanks to Yeera and Cloverdale for treating us with such courtesy. Our
players and their families really enjoyed their first VMFL Championship
experience. In my opinion the the fact that the Associations can work
together to give the players this experience in a respectful and
sportsmanlike atmosphere makes the VMFL the standard to meet or exceed.
Again, thanks to all for such a tremendous effort in making this day
possible.( Yes it is still snowing in Nanaimo).
Rick Keen, Pres. Football Nanaimo.

CCFA President's work recognized by Province

In a feature article in the Sports Section, Vancouver Province Reporter Ken Henry reports that:
"This man built it, the teams came"
"Dedication: Thanks to 14 years of hard work from Yeera Sami and others, Cloverdale is a football hotbed"

Remembering Ray
Ray and Dorothy Hopkins
Long-time volunteers Ray and Dorothy Hopkins.
Sadly, Ray passed away in the fall of 2002.
He will be deeply missed by all of us at CCFA.
Thanks Joyce !
JoyceEveryone knows Joyce, and should be well aware of her incredible dedication to CCFA. She has put in many years of hard work as registrar which includes all paperwork, and also is a former concession manager, team manager, and seamstress, and is always available for anything else that needs to be done.
Thanks, Joyce, we truly appreciate your efforts in helping the CCFA continue to provide a quality football program for our kids.
